Captiv8 - a beautiful story
What has your town got to celebrate?
A group of young people from Darwin have come together using their rhymes, rhythms and moves to show us what this Top END town really has to celebrate.
Last last year twelve young Australians came together at Darwin Community Arts and took part in a six month film making and drama program called Captiv8.
The young crew, all members on Multicultural Youth NT, came from a variety of cultural backgrounds and decided they wanted to make a short film sharing their own stories about their family's journey to Australia and the life they have made here since.

Friday activities
We have been studying Ireland and this week we focused on St Patrick. We've been reading and writing about him.
On Friday we did some arts. Maurice and Donatus made a watercolour painting of him holding a shamrock. It ended up looking really good.
Bernadette, Heather and Francelia made some "stained glass" window art with cellophane. I think it looks amazing when the morning sun shines through it!
The original window is in St Thomas Aquinas Chapel in Brooklyn, New York.
Good work, everyone!

Yederr
Yederr is a
place in the Northern Territory of Australia. It takes about an hour (60
minutes) to drive there from Wadeye.
Yederr is by
the beach. There are tall red cliffs in Yederr. The English name is Redcliff.
There is only one house there.
There is a
dolphin dreaming site in Yederr. Yederr is Damian’s country. He is the
traditional land owner there.
Yesterday we
went to Yederr on a culture trip. First, the
culture people, Da Ngimalmin, picked us up from school and we drove to Yederr
on a bus and a troopy.
Then,
in Yederr they showed us the dolphin dreaming site. It was a big cave.
Sometimes there are bats inside the cave.
Next
we went down to the beach. Edward, Jules, Cletus and Dylan went swimming. The
rest of us ate oysters. Matthew showed us how to get the oysters out. You knock
them open with a rock and then you eat them. They taste salty and good.
After
that we went walking along the sand. We went to the
mangrove. It was hot and muddy. We found dead jellyfish. Some people started a
mud fight.
We had a
great time!
These are my friends we where playing along the beach
mikayla took a photo of us and we went back at the top and ate lunch and then
we went a long walk and going back have some coldwater pick up a bit a rubbish
