Christmas Mass

We had Christmas mass today. We prayed for peace in the community.

We also sang Christmas carols both in Murrinh Patha and English. The primary school students sang very well - much louder than us secondary people!

Winter is coming!
My country, Finland, has four seasons: spring, summer, autumn and winter.

November is the end of the autumn and the start of winter. In a couple of weeks, the temperature will go below zero. It is like living inside a fridge. Lucky we have very warm clothes! Next month, there should be snow on the ground already.

Watch this video of a soap bubble freezing as soon as it touches the cool air. Imagine how cold the air feels on your skin.

Melbourne Cup

Melbourne Cup is about winning a horse

Ride a horse
-Beatrice-

It was Melbourne Cup day this week. It is an important event for Victorians - so important that even schools in Victoria are closed on that day!

Melbourne Cup is a horse race but people are also interested in what the women wear to the race. Women wear lovely dresses and elaborate hats.

We learned how to draw a running horse. We used this video to help us. The drawings ended up looking really good and they are on display in the dining room now.
